Statement from Stephen Wade on behalf of Triton Hockey
Club
"We are absolutely thrilled that Cheshire East have
decided to approve the application for the MMU in Alsager which brings the
Sports Hub concept a step closer to reality. It's been a long battle but we
feel vindicated in our efforts to incorporate premier league sporting
facilities as a part of the proposed development plan. We would like to pay a
particular tribute to our MP Fiona Bruce who has offered steadfast support
throughout the last 6 years and Sport England for their willingness to back the
sporting community of Cheshire East.
It is however important to remember that this is just one
more step in the journey and there is still a long way to go before the Sports
Hub is delivered. We will be continuing to work alongside Cheshire East and the
developer in order to ensure that the Sports Hub is constructed within the
first phase of development at the MMU.
David - Vice Chair AFC Alsager - "On behalf of everyone associated with AFC Alsager, can I
please thank you for your efforts and support over the last few years in
relation to the MMU development. Yesterday's planning committee decision was
the culmination of lots of people's input but we particularly acknowledge your
work as a constituency MP who recognises and responds to issues of great
importance to the community.
We truly appreciate all you've done. The approval of the
devlopment is a fantastic outcome and one that will make a decision to the
people of Alsager for generations to come."
" Sincere thanks for all your hard work. We could
not have done it without you ! The local community are thrilled."
From Sport England to Fiona Bruce MP - "This application goes to show that a combined effort from yourself, the local residents and the Council Officers proved very effective. It also helped that we were all very persistent."
